Have you ever wondered why we see so many Hybrids around town? YVR has over 100 hybrid and natural gas-operated taxis. In 2004, the Airport Authority launched an incentive rebate program for alternative-fuelled taxis, and, since then, average taxi fleet fuel economy has improved by 47%. And with the thousands of passengers traveling to and from the airport by taxi each year – there’s a big impact on air quality.

To put it in perspective, it’s like taking 1,651 cars off the road and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 8,422 tonnes a year.

Whether you’re coming or going – with Green Taxis and the new Skytrain station – we’ll all be going green.
